nose beautification: Discover Dr. Hardesty’s surgical artistry
Many people who are unhappy with the nasal size, shape, look, or can’t breathe properly through their nose choose to undergo nose surgery. These procedures are grouped together and known as rhinoplasty or a nose job. Modern techniques of nasal surgery provide a safe and reliable pathway to creating the nose you’ve always desired. Noses are one of our most visible features, thus making sure you have a nose that you feel confident about is very important in improving overall self-esteem. It can also be functional allowing one to breathe through their nose instead of their mouth, improve or illuminate snoring and even improve taste.
What is Nose Surgery?
Nose surgery, medically referred to as rhinoplasty, can help to improve both the functionality and appearance of your nose. Functionally if you have issues with breathing due to a deviated septum (the partition between the left and right nose openings) and/or often overly large turbinates’ (air humidifiers) can decrease the ability to breathe through your nose. A Septoplasty (straightening the deviated and crooked septum) and turbinate reduction could benefit you immensely. Cosmetically, Dr. Hardesty has been practicing and helping people get their dream noses for decades. He wants to get to know his patients and he listens to their concerns intently to help make sure that their results are the desired results. If you have a crooked, large, unshapely nose, bulbous tip, Dr. Hardesty can help you obtain the nose you desire. If you desire functional and cosmetic improvements of your nose, both these concerns can be often performed at the same time under one anesthesia and one recovery period.

Customize Your Procedure: Nose Surgery Options
Surgery may involve reducing or increasing the size of the nose by treating the supporting structures that are found under the tissue of the nose. The underlying structures such as cartilage may be reshaped to remove lumps and improve asymmetry. There are different ways to get this improvement. Depending on what needs to be done to get your desired results, Dr. Hardesty will help you choose an option that suitable.
Procedure Options:
- Silicone Implants: If there is not enough nasal cartilage to use for the augment of the nose, a silicone implant may be a viable option, though it comes with more side effects since it is a foreign object being used.
- Autologous cartilage: These are grafts taken from the nasal cartilage, if this is unavailable, ear or rib cartilage can be used as well. This option offers the best chance for a long-lasting, natural results since it’s your own tissue.
- Fillers: Some fat grafts or fillers may be used as well to smooth out any lumps on the nose.
Incision Options:
There are two general techniques used in nose surgery. The type of incision used depends on the goal of the patient. Dr. Hardesty will explain the options for you and help you choose which one is most suitable for your aesthetic goals.
- Open Rhinoplasty: These incisions are typically made along the tissue strip that separates the nostrils. This approach gives a direct approach to the underlying honey and cartilaginous support tissue This incision is almost imperceptible when healed
- Endonasal Rhinoplasty: These incisions are usually made completely inside the nostrils. Thus there are no external incisions however all supporting tissue is not directly visible.
Before & After
Nose Surgery Recovery
Dr. Hardesty will give you full detailed pre-operative and post-operative instructions. Recovery is optimized by resting and following directions provided by Dr. Hardesty. Usually within a week, bruising and swelling subsides to show the refined appearance of the nose. At this time splints are removed the results from nasal surgery are apparent. During this time period you can usually return to normal daily activities. For the first 6 weeks after surgery non-contact, non-high impact and limited but progressive exercise can occur. Often over time, the nasal shape subtly continues to improve. It may take up to a year to see the full results from a rhinoplasty procedure.
